The two-day Second scientific and practical conference with international participation “Modern management of the therapeutic patient: results of 2023” organized by the O. O. Bogomolets National Medical University, the public organization “Academy of Internal Medicine” and the public organization “Polish Medical Society in Ukraine named after A.S. Svintsitsky”.
Professor Larisa Volodymyrivna Zhuravlyova was invited as the speaker and moderator of the first sectional meeting “New clinical guidelines and news regarding the management of patients with arterial hypertension”.

On December 14-16, 2023, a scientific and practical conference with international participation will be held: “IV Lviv Christmas therapeutic readings. Modern paradigms of internal medicine at the junction of specialties”.
Head of the department of internal medicine No. 3 and endocrinology of KhNMU, prof. Larisa Volodymyrivna Zhuravlyova took part as a speaker with a report “Modern strategy of pharmacotherapy of arterial hypertension in patients with metabolic disorders.”

Today, under the chairmanship of Professor Larisa Volodymyrivna Zhuravlyova, a professional seminar of the joint meeting of the Departments of Internal and Professional Diseases, Internal Medicine No. 3 and Endocrinology was held, regarding the presentation of a dissertation study on the assessment of scientific novelty, theoretical and practical significance of the results of the dissertation work of a graduate student of the Department of Internal and Professional Diseases of KhNMU Volodymyr Mykhailovych Tverezovsky on the topic: “Optimization of diagnosis and prognosis of the comorbid course of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and hypertensive disease according to apoptosis and hemodynamics”, specialty 222 “Medicine”, specialization “Internal diseases”. Academic supervisor, Doctor of Medicine, Professor Valery Andreyovych Kapustnyk.
After listening to the dissertation and conducting an open discussion, a conclusion was given that the dissertation and documentation are ready for submission to the Academic Council of the University for the creation of a one-time specialized academic council. We wish Volodymyr Mykhailovych success on his way to obtaining the scientific degree of Doctor of Philosophy!

Prof. Zhuravlyova L.V. acted as an official opponent of the doctoral dissertation of Julia Anatoliivna Spivak on the topic “Optimization of diagnosis and treatment of heart failure in patients with acute myocardial infarction in combination with type 2 diabetes”. The defense took place at the one-time specialized Academic Council at the Poltava State Medical University.

On November 30, 2023, under the chairmanship of Doctor of Medicine, Prof. Zhuravlevova L.V. a one-time meeting of the Specialized Scientific Council was held regarding the defense of the dissertation research of a graduate student of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 2, Clinical Immunology and Allergology named after the academician. L.T. Feldman Diana Arkadievna of Malya KhNMU Feldman on the topic: “Prognostic value of endothelial monocytoactivating peptide 2 and asymmetric dimethylarginine in relation to the course of acute myocardial infarction in patients with concomitant type 2 diabetes”, scientific leader, doctor of medicine, professor Ryndina N.G. After an open discussion, a conclusion was given: to award Feldman Diana Arkadiivna with the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in specialty 222 “Medicine”, specialization “Internal Diseases”. We congratulate Diana Arkadievna and her supervisor on the successful defense of the dissertation, we wish you further achievements in the scientific field!

A traditional annual student scientific conference on Internal Medicine was held today at the department, in which 10 students of the 4th and 5th year of our university took an active part.
In a welcoming speech to the participants of the conference, the head department, professor Zhuravlyova L.V. outlined the topic of the conference and emphasized the importance of combining educational activities with scientific research in clinical practice, in order to increase the level of professional competence in the future. Head of the SNT department, associate professor Yankevich O.O. expressed his gratitude to the participants for their active research position, and to the academic supervisors for their support of student science.
According to the results of the conference, all participants received certificates of participation. The report of Korobkina Polina Dmitrivna on the topic “ANALYSIS OF THE PREVALENCE OF GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT DISORDERS AMONG STUDENTS DURING THE MILITARY TIME PERIOD IN UKRAINE (scientific director, Associate Professor Sikalo Yu.K.)” was separately awarded with a 1st degree Diploma.
Diplomas of the 2nd degree were awarded to Litvinova Daria Hennadiyivna with the report “CLINICAL CASE: THROMBOEMBOLICITY OF THE PULMONARY ARTERY (research supervisors: assistant professor M.A. Markevich, associate professor O.O. Yankevich, associate professor M.V. Filonenko)” and Khoroshun Yevgenia Vitalyivna with a report “CLINICAL CASE: CORONARY-PULMONARY FISTULA (research supervisors: Assoc. Prof. Yankevich O.O., Assoc. Prof. Filonenko M.V.)”.
Elina Serhiyivna Chunikhovska was awarded the 3rd degree diploma with the report “CLINICAL CASE: PAROXISMAL VENTRICULAR TACHYCARDIA (research supervisors: Assoc. Prof. Yankevich O.O., Assoc. Shevchenko V.O.)”.
The reports presented at the plenary session aroused interest and became the subject of active discussion. Thank you all for your participation and we look forward to the next meetings.

From November 8 to 11, associate professors of the department, Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Fedorov and Maria Oleksandrivna Oliynyk, at the invitation of partners from LMU (Munich), participated in a seminar on working with virtual patients using the CASUS platform.
During the seminar, the work in this project during the past year was summarized. Together with representatives of LMU, goals were discussed and proposals were developed for the continuation of cooperation for the next year.
Also Fedorov V.O. and Oliynyk M.O. participated in the Clinical symposium Reasoning and the Future Role of Simulations in Medical Education, organized by the Institut für Didaktik und Ausbildungsforschung inder Medizin (DAM). Within the framework of the symposium, the participants got acquainted with the experience of implementing the latest teaching methods in medical educational institutions in Germany, as well as with the modern teaching methodology in medical education, medical analytics, implementation of stimulation technologies and virtual platforms, visited the Brainlab laboratory.

The other day, the educational manual for doctors “Fundamentals of diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases” authored by prof. Zhuravlevova L.V., assistant professors Oliynyk M.O., Sikalo Y.K. and Fedorova V.O.
📌Our manual contains generalized modern and relevant data on the provision of medical care to patients with a rheumatic profile, and is a continuation of the educational manual “Fundamentals of diagnosis and treatment of joint diseases”, which was printed in 2020.
✅Despite today’s difficult conditions, the publishing activity of the department continues, creating a solid foundation for the Ukrainian professional community.

On November 23, a two-day scientific and practical online conference with international participation began: News of European and World Pancreatology. Comorbidity in pancreatology. Pancreatic cancer: challenges in diagnosis and treatment (World Pancreatic Cancer Day). Prof. Zhuravlyova L.V. participated in this event with the report “What a family doctor needs to know about pancreatin”.

Head of the department prof. Zhuravlyova L.V. took part in the defense of the dissertation as an official opponent of Valentina Vasylivna Yuskevich’s dissertation “Clinical and immunological characteristics of the course of rheumatoid arthritis with Borrelia-associated infection and dysbiosis of the intestinal microbiota: optimization of diagnosis and treatment”, submitted for defense to the specialized scientific council of the DF 58.601.085 , which was formed in accordance with the order of the rector of the Ternopil National Medical University named after I.Ya. of the year with the right to accept for consideration and conduct the defense of a dissertation for obtaining the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of knowledge 22 “Health care” in the specialty 222 “Medicine”

On November 16-17, Kyiv hosted a medical forum with international participation dedicated to functional and inflammatory bowel diseases, issues of prevention, diagnosis, treatment and diet therapy “INFLAMMATORY AND FUNCTIONAL BOWEL DISEASES”.
Prof. Zhuravlyova L.V. took part as a moderator of the sectional meeting No. 10 “Standards and possibilities of treatment of patients with functional intestinal pathology”, and also gave a report “Crossroads syndrome” in patients with functional gastrointestinal disorders: how to help?

On November 16, under the chairmanship of Professor Larisa Volodymyrivna Zhuravlyova, a professional seminar of a joint meeting of the Departments of Internal Medicine No. 1, Internal Medicine No. 3, and Endocrinology was held regarding the presentation of a dissertation study on the assessment of scientific novelty, theoretical and practical significance of the results of the dissertation work of a graduate student of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 1 Iryna Ivanivna Tverezovska KhNMU on the topic: “The role of selenoprotein P in optimizing the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of the course of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease against the background of hypertension”, specialty 222 “Medicine”, specialization “Internal diseases”. Scientific supervisor, Doctor of Medicine, Professor Natalya Merabivna Zheleznyakova.
After listening to the dissertation student and conducting an open discussion, a conclusion was given that the dissertation and documentation are ready for submission to the Academic Council of the University for the creation of a one-time specialized academic council. Practical training of applicants is ongoing at the department. Thus, in order to form professional competencies, students visit the simulation center of the Khnist Medical University, where the department’s teachers demonstrate, and students practice algorithms for clinical examination of patients, methods of diagnostic manipulations, and emergency care techniques in the internal medicine clinic.
Associate professors V.O. Fedorov, O.O. Yankevych, O.I. Tsivenko, and T.A. Rogacheva conduct classes in the simulation center with students.

On October 26-28, a scientific and practical conference with international participation “IV Lviv Autumn Medical Summit”, organized by the Association of Internists of Western Ukraine, was held in Yaremche.
Professor L.V. Zhuravlyova moderated the section “Diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Algorithms of diagnosis and treatment” and presented two reports: “Actual issues of insulin therapy for patients with type 2 diabetes in the practice of a family doctor” and “Metabolic-associated liver disease as a central component of the metabolic syndrome: modern trends in patient management”.

On October 24 and 25, the All-Ukrainian scientific and practical conference “Actual issues of diagnosis and treatment of internal diseases in the practice of an internist based on updated foreign and domestic recommendations” is being held in Kyiv, dedicated to the memory and 100th anniversary of the birth of an outstanding scientist-clinician and teacher O.Y. Hrytsyuk
Prof. Larisa Volodymyrivna Zhuravlyova took part in this event and gave a speech “Modern strategy of pharmacotherapy of hypertension in patients with metabolic disorders”.

The educational part of the training of doctors-interns of the first and second years of study continues at the department. Professor Zhuravlyova L.V. held a lecture session devoted to the problems of insulin therapy for patients with type 2 diabetes.

Regular thematic improvement courses for doctors “Management of patients with a rheumatological profile” are ongoing at the department. This time, doctors from various medical institutions of Kharkiv joined the training in order to improve their professional skills. Prof. L.V. Zhuravlyova, Assoc. Fedorov V.O. and Assoc. Sikalo Y.K. created appropriate conditions for the full implementation of the thematic plan, including means of remote work. It is worth noting that this year the department fully implemented the work plan for post-graduate training of doctors, despite the difficult conditions of life and work during the war in the front-line city.

From October 4 to 6, the International Congress “Third Scientific Readings in Memory of Professor A.S. Svintsitskyi “Internal Medicine: Science and Practice” will be held in Kyiv from October 4 to 6. Professor Larisa Volodymyrivna Zhuravlyova took part in the important event as the moderator of the sectional meeting “Interdisciplinary Principles of Management of a metabolic patient: diabetes in focus”, and also gave a report “Actual issues of insulin therapy of patients with type 2 diabetes in the practice of a family doctor”.

Professor Larisa Volodymyrivna Zhuravlyova and associate professor of the department Fedorov Volodymyr Oleksandrovych held a practical session with students of the 4th year of the 1st medical faculty in the Simulation Center of KhNMU. Students mastered the practical methods of primary examination, percussion, auscultation and palpation on various parts of the body, practiced the skills of using an automatic external defibrillator, artificial lung ventilation, conducting an ECG, and administering medicinal substances. The participants of the educational process were satisfied with the lesson and the opportunity to develop practical skills in safe conditions.

Today, an offline meeting was held at the department, at which the head of the department, prof. L.V. Zhuravlyova discussed with the staff the issue of optimizing the pedagogical process at the undergraduate stage, preparing for the final report on the implementation of the NDR, organizing the work of intern doctors, and methodological issues regarding conducting thematic improvement courses in rheumatology.

Today, September 23, a meeting of the student scientific group of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 3 and Endocrinology was held.
Head of the department, prof. Zhuravlyova L.V. opened the meeting of Gurtkiv residents with a welcome speech and wishes for fruitful work. Then, for several hours, the students, together with O.O. Yankevych, associate professor of the department, doctor of ultrasound diagnostics and cardiologist, analyzed the basic principles and some subtleties of ultrasound diagnostics of diseases of internal organs. The meeting was active and fruitful, comprehensive answers were given to all the students’ questions. The possibility of practicing practical skills on this topic was also discussed.
