The two-day Second scientific and practical conference with international participation “Modern management of the therapeutic patient: results of 2023” organized by the O. O. Bogomolets National Medical University, the public organization “Academy of Internal Medicine” and the public organization “Polish Medical Society in Ukraine named after A.S. Svintsitsky”.
Professor Larisa Volodymyrivna Zhuravlyova was invited as the speaker and moderator of the first sectional meeting “New clinical guidelines and news regarding the management of patients with arterial hypertension”.
On November 30-December 1, 2023, an online event was held: the scientific and practical conference “Endocrine pathology in the age aspect”, organized by the State University “Institute of Endocrine Pathology Problems named after V.Ya. Danylevsky National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine” together with the State University “Institute of Health Care of Children and Adolescents of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine”.
Professor Zhuravlyova L.V. took part in this event with the report “Diagnosis and management of early osteoarthritis in postmenopausal women with type 2 diabetes.”
From November 8 to 11, associate professors of the department, Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Fedorov and Maria Oleksandrivna Oliynyk, at the invitation of partners from LMU (Munich), participated in a seminar on working with virtual patients using the CASUS platform.
During the seminar, the work in this project during the past year was summarized. Together with representatives of LMU, goals were discussed and proposals were developed for the continuation of cooperation for the next year.
Also Fedorov V.O. and Oliynyk M.O. participated in the Clinical symposium Reasoning and the Future Role of Simulations in Medical Education, organized by the Institut für Didaktik und Ausbildungsforschung inder Medizin (DAM). Within the framework of the symposium, the participants got acquainted with the experience of implementing the latest teaching methods in medical educational institutions in Germany, as well as with the modern teaching methodology in medical education, medical analytics, implementation of stimulation technologies and virtual platforms, visited the Brainlab laboratory.
On November 23, a two-day scientific and practical online conference with international participation began: News of European and World Pancreatology. Comorbidity in pancreatology. Pancreatic cancer: challenges in diagnosis and treatment (World Pancreatic Cancer Day). Prof. Zhuravlyova L.V. participated in this event with the report “What a family doctor needs to know about pancreatin”.
On November 16-17, Kyiv hosted a medical forum with international participation dedicated to functional and inflammatory bowel diseases, issues of prevention, diagnosis, treatment and diet therapy “INFLAMMATORY AND FUNCTIONAL BOWEL DISEASES”.
Prof. Zhuravlyova L.V. took part as a moderator of the sectional meeting No. 10 “Standards and possibilities of treatment of patients with functional intestinal pathology”, and also gave a report “Crossroads syndrome” in patients with functional gastrointestinal disorders: how to help?
On March 16-17, the Bukovyna State Medical University will host a conference with international participation “Comorbid course of diseases of internal organs: the current state of the problem and unresolved issues of correction.”
Prof. joined the scientific event. Larisa Volodymyrivna Zhuravlyova with a report at the first plenary session “Management of patients with type 2 diabetes: focusing on the issue of insulin therapy and the role of the family doctor.”
On January 25, 2023, a student scientific conference on internal medicine was held at the department. The event was attended by students of 4-6 years studying at our department. From November 12 to 26, an internship for teachers of medical faculties “Ukraine digital – Clinical reasoning in medical education” took place in Germany, which was attended by associate professors of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 3 and Endocrinology Maria Oleksandrivna and Fedorov Volodymyr Oleksandrovych. The internship took place on the basis of Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich (Ludwig-Maximilian Universität München) and Charité University Clinic in Berlin (Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin).
The goal of the project was to introduce virtual clinical cases to the educational process. In the practice of German medical universities, there is a pool of educational clinical cases, which have been currently updated with the participation of many universities. As part of the internship, the relevance of using virtual clinical cases was determined, and their positive impact in improving the educational process at medical faculties was determined. The possibility of integrating educational cases into existing curricula was discussed. There were also trainings on the compilation of clinical cases in the Casus program and an introduction to the concept of curriculum development and mapping using the LOOOPshare online platform.
On June 22-25, an important event is taking place in Kyiv: the 54th European Pancreatic Club Meeting 2022 is being held. For the first time, a pan-European scientific event is being held in Ukraine, pancreatologists and specialists of other specialties (gastroenterologists, surgeons, etc.) from all countries of the world are participating in it. It is worth noting that the president of the Ukrainian Pancreatological Club, Prof. N.B. Gubergryts is now also the president of the European Society.
The Department of Internal Medicine N3 and Endocrinology took part in the work of this important scientific forum. Prof. Zhuravlyova L.V. made an oral-poster presentation in co-authorship with D.I. Pylov. and Zhuravlyova A.K. “Effect of Alpha-lipoic Acid on Adipocytokine Status in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Chronic Pancreatitis”.

On February 3, 2022, a scientific-practical conference with international participation for endocrinologists, therapists, general practitioners, family physicians, pediatricians, cardiologists, neurologists and other specialists was held with an online broadcast “Innovative approaches in the treatment and prevention of endocrine diseases” as a part of educational project “Ukrainian Endocrinology Workshop”.
Employees of the department also took part in this event. Assistant professor, Ph.D. Tymoshenko Galyna made a report “Prognostic markers of biliary disorders on the background of type 2 diabetes”, assistant professor, PhD student Cherpita Valentina reported on “The clinical significance of visfatin in pre- and postmenopausal women with pre-and postmenopausal women osteoarthritis”.
On January 24-26, 2022, the Festival of Youth Science took place within the framework of the Scientific Session of Kharkiv National Medical University. Students and young scientists of the Department of Internal Medicine №3 and Endocrinology took an active part in it and won prizes.
As part of the festival, January 24 , а brain-ring of students and young scientists “Medicine without Borders” took place, where the team of our department “People in White” took second place (supervisor Assoc. Prof. Lakhno OV).
On January 25, the interuniversity conference of young scientists and students “Medicine of the third millennium” took place. In the section “Internal Medicine” the second place was taken by Kuye Adesegun Jacobs and Azuvike Uchechi Blessing for the report “The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the total body weight and its associated symptoms” (supervisor Assoc. Prof. Elhazh OV).
Aayushi Tanvar’s speech “Modern methods of diagnosis and treatment of hemochromatosis” was awarded a diploma for the best presentation (supervisor Assoc. Prof. Fedorov VA).
On January 26, the final plenary session of the Scientific Session was held, which was opened by Professor LV Zhuravlyova with actual report “Pandemic during the pandemic: diabetes and COVD-19”.
