A scheduled meeting was held at the department in Google Meet video conference mode. The agenda was devoted to the implementation in the educational process of the interactive web resource Casus – a virtual patient.
Docent Oliynyk M.O. presented this educational platform, with which she gained work experience during a recent internship in Germany at the Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich (Ludwig-Maximilian Universität München) and the Charite University Clinic in Berlin). Moreover, German colleagues provided free access to educational materials to all users from our university when registering by corporate mail.
We join the European standards of medical education by using modern interactive learning tools.
The department held an online meeting with employees regarding the start of the new academic year.
Prof. Zhuravlyova L.V. informed the team about the peculiarities of work under martial law, the challenges and tasks set by the higher education management taking into account these conditions.
Emphasis is placed on the priority of proper organization of the educational process with students of 4-6 years, undergraduate students and medical interns. Responsibilities assigned to teachers have been allocated, directions for updating scientific and methodological documentation of the department have been determined, and scientific activity has been planned.

Scientific and pedagogical staff of the department of Internal Medicine №3 and Endocrinology continue to work remotely with ukrainian and foreign 4th year students in wartime.
If possible, teachers conduct online classes according to the schedule, consult, accept work off, in addition, perform methodological, organizational, scientific and treatment work.
We wish our staff and students strength of spirit, endurance and perseverance in their work in this difficult time for all.

The Department of Internal Medicine 3 and Endocrinology continues training with interns.
Today another webinar took place, at which prof. Zhuravlyova LV and responsible associate professors Tsivenko OI and Lakhno OV considered clinical issues according to the thematic plan and discussed working moments with interns of 1st and 2nd year of study.
During the meeting prof. Zhuravlyova LV accented the importance of continuing training and, if possible, medical work at the place of residence, focused on security in martial law.
Special thanks were expressed to the interns who volunteered in various hospitals in the city and region.

On November 19, an online meeting of the Academic Council of the University was held. The report of the Director of the Scientific Library Iryna Kyrychok about the state and prospects of information and library support of educational and research work at KhNMU was done.
An assistant of the Department of Internal Medicine №3 and Endocrinology, PhD Sikalo Yuliya Kostiantynivna was invited to discuss the issue, and shared the experience of using information content from Scientific Library of KhNMU during the introduction of distance learning at the university.
Yuliya Kostiantynivna noted the growing importance of the Scientific Library in creating quality e-courses, insofar as the provision of high quality informational and primarily digital content has been and will remain an important component of effective learning.

On October 9, 2020, an on-line meeting of the specialized Academic Council D 64.600.04 took place, at which 2 dissertations were successfully defended. Professor Zhuravlyova Larysa Volodymyrivna spoke with the official opponent of Pavlovsky’s doctoral dissertation “Features of the course, diagnosis and treatment of patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease on the background of type 2 diabetes mellitus”.

On September 1, a new academic year began at the department for 4th year students, bachelors, interns and graduate students. According to the order of the management of KhNMU, practical classes at the department are held in a mixed mode: in class, in compliance with all anti-epidemic measures, and distantly on the information and educational portal “Distance learning of KhNMU”.
At the entrance to the department, all participants of the educational process undergo temperature screening, antiseptic wetting of hands. Students in the department move in masks.
The head of the department, professor Zhuravlyova Larysa, checked the readiness of the distance courses of the discipline for the beginning of the educational process in accordance with the requirements. Also, information boards for students were updated with up-to-date information on the features of blended learning and the COVID-19 pandemic.
On May 16, 2020, an online meeting of the ukrainian student scientific society of the department of Internal Medicine № 3 and Endocrinology KhNMU was held by as.prof. PhD Ogneva Olena. Within the topic “Modern non-invasive methods of diagnostic morphological state of liver within chronic disease” modern approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of liver diseases were analyzed.
On May 16, 2020, an online meeting of the international student scientific society of the department of Internal Medicine № 3 and Endocrinology KhNMU was held by ass.prof. PhD Rogachova Tetyana. Within the topic “Valvular heart disease” modern approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of mitral and aortic valvular heart disease were analyzed. In addition to voice explanation of the material, demonstration of text slides with key information, illustrative pictures, the presentation demonstrated short fragments of medical animation, showing the hemodynamics of valvular heart disease and methods of surgical treatment, as well as 1-minute audio recordings of auscultation of the heart in relevant heart defects. The finale of the meeting was a brief analysis of the clinical case from the teacher’s own experience and a discussion on the topic of the meeting with the participation of all present students.
On May 14, an examination for 3rd year bachelor students majoring in “Technologies of Medical Diagnosis and Treatment” in the discipline “Internal Medicine with evaluation of research results” was held at the Department of Internal Medicine №3 and Endocrinology of KhNMU. The exam was conducted by the head of Department, Professor Larysa Zhuravlyova and Associate Professor Krivonosova Olena in an online format on the Moodle platform of KhNMU.

The final test on the thematic sections of the discipline Endocrinology and Hematology has begun on the department.
A pre-formed bank of all tests and questions in the department category of courses in the Moodle KNMU system provided a convenient algorithm for generating a ticket in the body of the test. The applied algorithm for the formation of an examination ticket provides for an introductory test with the further possibility of obtaining an essay task and checking it by the teacher. Tasks and tests in the ticket appear randomly from a questions database, containing 450 items. Tickets also have time limits for execution, and access to them is opened directly by the teacher during the lesson. The second stage of the final control with the analysis of answers and the solution of clinical problems takes place synchronously in the webinar room. The head of the department, professor Larisa Zhuravlyova approved this algorithm for the final certification after a step-by-step discussion of its components at a meeting with the department staff.
On April 24, a regular web meeting with the staff of the department to ensure the high quality of the educational process in remote conditions, was held by head of the department Zhuravlyova Larysa. Current issues concerning the implementation of pedagogical, scientific, methodological and medical work were discussed. The procedure for conducting final test of students on the Moodle platform has been approved.
Distance learning, of course, has made its adjustments to the planned course of the educational process at the department. Creating quality training courses, realizing the possibility of current control, eliminating academic debt, planning semester certification – these are the urgent challenges facing the staff of the department in new and difficult working conditions. Head of the departments prof. Zhuravlyova Larysa Volodymyrivna approved the work of the initiative group whith Sikalo Yuliya and Oliynyk Maria. They created a basic distance endocrinology course for 4th year students on the Moodle platform in three languages, which made it possible to be one of the first departments to ensure a quality transition to distance learning in mixed mode (synchronous-asynchronous) from the first days of quarantine. In the future, assistants of the department Filonenko Maryna, Rogachova Tetyana, Sokolnikova Nelya, associate professors Ogneva Olena, Pasieshvili Tamara joined the development of the course courses of the discipline, with obligatory consecutive performance of activity and constant control. The database of departmental courses includes more than 100 test tasks, the successful completion of which, among other things, will be a condition of admission to the final certification. Both domestic and foreign students actively participated in such activities. Students are interested in this approach, the best works will be additionally marked by teachers.
Postgraduate students and interns are actively involved in distance learning at the department. The head of the department, Professor Larysa Zhuravlyova, conducts training webinars on topical issues of internal medicine, analyzes clinical cases, conducts testing.

Діяльність кафедри внутрішньої медицини №3 та ендокринології ХНМУ в умовах вимушеного карантину спрямована на забезпечення безперервного виконання навчальної програми дисципліни в дистанційній формі УСІХ учасників навчального процесу – як додипломної освіти (студентів 4 курсу, бакалаврів), так і післядипломної (інтернів, аспірантів та лікарів курсів ТУ).
Для організації якісного дистанційного навчання, співробітники кафедри разом із студентами та лікарями активно долучилися до можливостей офіційної платформи ДО ХНМУ Moodle. Згідно розкладу, викладачі проводять вебінари, на яких читаються лекції та розглядаються клінічні випадки за темою заняття. Самостійна підготовка до заняття, виконання завдань та контрольні тестування студентами та лікарями проводиться у відповідних підрозділах кафедральної категорії Moodle.
The activity of the Department of Internal Medicine №3 and Endocrinology of KhNMU in the conditions of forced quarantine is aimed at ensuring continuous implementation of the curriculum of the discipline in the distance form of ALL participants of the educational process – both undergraduate education (4th year students, bachelors) and postgraduate (interns, graduate students).
To organize quality distance learning, the staff of the department together with students and doctors actively joined the capabilities of the official platform of KhNMU Moodle. According to the schedule, teachers conduct webinars, where lectures are given and clinical cases are considered on the topic of the lesson. Independent preparation for classes, tasks and control tests by students and doctors is carried out in the relevant departments of the departmental category Moodle.
